I had so much fun with these chairs, I picked them up at United Volunteers for 50 cents a piece! They were in pretty rough condition as shown below but the frames were still very sturdy. I screwed off the cushions and peeled off the old vinyl that was on them-yuck. The cushions were still usable so i just added a layer of thick quit batting to fluff them up bit in both the seat and back. Then I covered them in these playful fabrics using an electric staple gun. (The hand-held staple guns weren't quite string enough to get through the pressboard that the cushions sit on top of.) Then I hand painted a decorative leaf wreath and "relax" onto the back of each chair. Then it's as simple as screwing the cushions back on and you're good to go!
(here are the dreadful before images)
What a fun transformation! :)
